Gas Heated Megaflo, and Heating Systems:

Generally, Megaflo units are heated using some form of gas boiler. Obviously, cost plays a major factor.

Gas is far the cheapest fuel to use when heating stored hot water, including Megaflo units. Megaflo systems use the ‘S’ plan control system comprising of two motorised zone valves, which control flow of hot water from the boiler to either central heating, hot water cylinder, or both simultaneously.

All Megaflo units come with a pre-installed electric immersion heater, in case of boiler failure. This facilitates a hot water back up heat source. (very useful)

However, many installers/plumbers neglect to connect the immersion, leaving customers without hot water when the boiler fails, or the motorised zone valve fails.

Common faults:

  1. No heat or hot water, usually means boiler problems, or pump.

  2. Heating, but no hot water, usually means Zone valve defective.

  3. Hot water luke warm, usually means balancing issue, or mixing problems with cold mains supplies.

  4. Boiler remaining on when controls turned off, usually indicates defective Zone valve.

  5. Discharge from Tundish, usually means air pocket needs replenishing, or defective T&P valve.

  6. Thermal cut-out operating, usually indicates high temperatures. Faulty thermostats, or defective cut-out.

These are for guidance only, please ensure you employ suitably qualified, experienced engineers before undertaking remedial works.

TRADING STANDARDS APPROVED

In response to concerns about ‘rogue traders’ which are often highlighted in the media, a partnership of Local Authority Trading Standards Offices have taken the groundbreaking step of putting together the Buy With Confidence Scheme.

The scheme provides a list of local businesses which have given their commitment to trading fairly.

Each business listed has undergone a series of rigorous checks and audits before being approved as a member of the scheme.
